Boxen — A Kit of Parts Squarespace Developer SDK

Build, Server and Deploy

Next you will configure Boxen to integrate with your specific sqs site by setting the sqs_site_url located in the .npmrc file in the root of your project directory. Remember to put YOUR sqs site URL in the file.

  sqs_site_url=https://foobar.squarespace.com

Now you can clone the template for your sqs site into a build directory. The build directory is where the @squarespace/toolbelt manages your sqs remote Git repository. Execute the following command. Remember to use YOUR sqs GIT Repository URL found in Settings > Advanced > Developer Mode.

  git clone https://foobar.squarespace.com/template.git build

Next run your first @squarespace/toolbelt assemble to bootstrap the build directory with your Boxen project:

  npm run build

Finally, run your first deployment to your remote sqs site. It’s the Wild West out here in sqs development and you’re the new Sheriff in town. Keep your trigger finger calm and steady. All that stands between you and full template deployment to a live sqs site are three little words:

  npm run deploy

And off it goes! The local dev server will automatically open in your preferred browser when you type the following and hit return:

  npm start

Your site should load at localhost:9000.
